SYNERGISTIC INSPIRATION:
Research By The 2001-2002 Haas Scholars

The research presented at this conference represents much more than the culmination of 20 individual efforts. It also reflects the vigor of an intellectual community formed over the course of the year, inspiring each member to accomplish and grow more than they could have alone. Synergism, defined as “the interaction of discrete agents such that the total effect is greater than the sum of the parts”, is thus an apt metaphor for the difficult yet exhilarating process that the scholars are now completing.
