Seeking to counter social, political and personal manipulation, Javier set out to explore the dark side of political art. With Chavez's Venezuela as a backdrop, he entered into the frey to hone his propagandistic skills in an attempt to wrest the attention of the masses from corporate and government controlled thought and action. But as they say, when you attempt to exact change from within a system, it is more likely that the individual will be changed in the exchange, as the system goes on unfettered...
IN RESPONSE to this paradigm, Javier has turned from without to within. By scraping his citizen's soul, Javier has produced a body of work which seeks not to manipulate the viewer with "information" and "inspiration," but which presents a mirror/puzzle for the viewer to absorb. Through absorption instead of instruction, Javier hopes to share a deeper meaning and explanation for our current political and cultural straits. The answer is always lying dormant within, and just needs the right stimulus or signal to be activated and understood.
