Funding and Prizes
for Creative Projects and Fellowships for
Study in the Arts
Opportunities in the arts include funding for creative work you hope to carry out
in the future, prizes for work already completed, and fellowships for graduate study in the arts.
FUNDING FOR A CREATIVE PROJECT YOU HOPE
TO CARRY OUT IN THE FUTURE
*Haas Scholars Program ($12,600 for a creative project, or research:
eligibility = 3.5 UCB GPA, with financial need, spring deadline, graduating one or two semesters (or two semesters and a summer) after you apply.
*SURF: $3,000 for L&S students with 3.0+ gpa, spring deadline, graduating one or two semesters (or two semesters and a summer) after you apply, to cover research component of a creative project (or simply a research project).
*Stronach: for after graduation, up to $25,000 for research or
creative project for the public good, for UCB students. Apply in your last semester as a UCB student or immediately after graduating.
*Fulbright: Apply in early September of your senior year (or after you graduate) for this
US government fellowship that can fund you to carry out a creative project abroad.

PRIZES
*Prizes for creative work are administered by the financial aid prizes office in
film, prose, poetry, music composition and photography
*Prizes for Art Practice and Theater are administered by those departments.

FELLOWSHIPS TO SUPPORT GRADUATE WORK IN THE ARTS
*Beinecke Scholarship ($32,000 for MFA or PhD in Arts, Humanities, or
Social Science: requires financial need. Apply when you are a year or a semester away from graduation.)
*Jack Kent Cooke (up to $50,000 for six years; requires financial need, 3.5+ GPA. Apply in your last semester or after graduation).
*Jacob K. Javits Fellowship -- up to four years of support in a graduate program --
and DAAD for Study in Germany, both administered by the
Graduate Division Fellowships Office, 318 Sproul Hall.
