The Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholarships (OURS) Prestigious Scholarships Office manages the Scholarships Connection website. The site is UC Berkeley's clearinghouse for information on scholarships that are funded by sources outside the University. Hundreds of scholarship notices are received each year. Competition for these awards may be local, national, or international in scope, and scholarship deadlines and requirements vary.
Students may search for scholarships on the Scholarship Connection online database. To stay up to date on available awards, enrolled UC Berkeley students may also receive biweekly e-mail updates on scholarships and related opportunities. We encourage students to investigate other scholarship resources available on- and off-campus.
The Prestigious Scholarships Office also administers the application process for the prestigious scholarships displayed at http://scholarships.berkeley.edu/overview. Most of these awards require a campus endorsement before the applications can be forwarded to the final levels of competition. To help students prepare competitive applications, Alicia Hayes, the Program Manager and Advisor, offers individual advising and occasional workshops on selecting recommenders, preparing compelling personal statements, interviewing, and developing project proposals or proposed programs of study. Advance preparation for these awards is essential. Eligible candidates should arrange an advising appointment early in the process.
